Text field

  • What is it? A simple text box.
  • When should I use it? A text field is great for capturing a few words of input from a customer.
  • Example scenarios: 'Forename', 'Surname'

Question textThe label shown next to the field
Use validationWhether to apply validation to the field, e.g. alphabetic or integer
Restrict answer lengthSet an upper limit on the number of characters that can be entered
RequiredDoes the question have to be answered?
Default answerThe value to initially display in the field, that the customer can then modify
Placeholder textA hint to display in the field, so the customer knows what to enter
Require confirmationRequires the customer to enter the same data twice, e.g. when confirming an email address
Help textText displayed under the field to guide the customer as to what they should enter
Set input purposeSet an input purpose to assist browsers in autofilling the question. See Setting the input purpose of a question for more information on this setting
Show internallyIf enabled, this field will be shown on internal forms
Show publiclyIf enabled, this field will be shown on online forms
