Accessibility checker

An accessibility checker is provided when previewing documents and homepages. The checker is run by clicking the black Sunglasses tab at the bottom of the page.

Checks​

The accessibility checker runs tests and provides notifications against the following areas of accessibility checking:

  • Headings to ensure proper nesting
  • Contrast to report on areas with insufficient contrast
  • Link text to flag any linked text that may be confusing when read by a screen reader
  • Labels to identify any inputs with missing labels
  • Image alt text when read by assistive technologies
  • ARIA landmarks to help assistive technologies understand different areas of a webpage e.g. search, navigation, main content
