Directory fields

You can specify what data can be added to a record, and the control used to manage the data by adding and editing directory fields.

Managing directory fields

1. When editing a directory, navigate to the directory overview by clicking the Fields tab. The directory field management page will open.
2. A list of directory fields will now be shown, with links to create new fields if your account has the appropriate access permissions.

Directory records will also include a mandatory Title text field. This field is created by Jadu Central and can not be edited on the field management page. The value from this field is used to generate links to records and as the title of the record webpage.

Directories fields

Field	Notes	Required?
Title	The label of the field in the directory record form, also used as the title for the associated value on the website.	✅
Type	The type of control used to manage this field. eg. text area, image, etc. Defaults to Text box.
Visibility	Whether this field will be visible when the record is displayed on your website. Defaults to Visible.
Display title	Whether the title for this field will appear adjacent to the field content when the record is displayed on your website. Defaults to Yes.
Mandatory	Whether this field must have a value in order for the record to be saved. Defaults to No.
Add after	Where in the list of existing fields to add a new field. Defaults to Final field, ie. at the bottom of the field list. This field is only shown when adding a new field.
Default value	Whether the field will have a predefined value. For Select box and Radio button field types, this value is used to manage the list of options provided by the control.

Types of field

When choosing a field type from the Field Type dropdown menu, your choice will be determined by the type of data you want to associate with that field.

Type	Notes
Text box	A singular line of text entry.
Text area	Multiple lines of text entry.
Select box	Selection from a number of predefined options.
Radio buttons	Selection from a number of predefined options using radio buttons.
Image	An image selected from the Image Library. See Image library for further details.
Google map	A location marker displayed on a Google interactive map.
Link	A singular line of text entry displayed as a link on the webpage.
Email	A singular line of text entry displayed as an email ilnk on the webpage.
HTML	Rich html text content. See Text editor for further details.
ESRI map	A location marker displayed on an ArcGIS online interactive map.

Reordering directory fields

Directory fields can be reordered using the arrow controls on the directory field management page.
