Text editor

The Jadu Central Text Editor allows you to format the content you produce for your organization’s website. Basic word processing skills are enough to create pages that look consistent with the rest of your site in terms of font use, layout and colour, etc.

tip

• Try to include a paragraph return after every other full stop or after every full stop if your paragraphs are long. This makes the text on a computer screen much easier to read.
• Keep headlines and headings consistent, and avoid using CAPITALS for headlines or headings.
• Only use the underline tool where absolutely necessary - underlining words in your content will make them look like links and may confuse your site's visitors.
• Use headings sparingly and avoid using headings or sub headings on full paragraphs within your content.

	Format	Allows you to use predetermined font styles and colours for the different elements of your content such as headings and normal text.
	Undo	Undoes the last action you performed
	Redo	Re-does the last action you performed
	Copy	Copies the area you have selected
	Paste	Pastes the content you have copied to your clipboard
	Cut	Cuts the area you have selected
	Paste from Word	Allows you to paste content from Microsoft Word and maintain original content formatting
	Subscript	Allows you to add subscript text
	Superscript	Allows you to add superscript text
	Remove formatting	Allows you to quickly remove any text formatting applied using inline HTML elements and CSS styles, like basic text styles (bold, italic, etc.), font family, size, and color and similar
	Full screen editor	Maximizes or minimizes the editor screen
	Ordered list	Allows you to add a numbered list
	Bulleted list	Allows you to add a bulleted list
	Blockquote	Allows you to add blockquoted text
	Abbreviation	Allows you to define the full meaning of an abbreviated term
	Insert/modify link	Allows you to insert a link to another site or item of content or to modify a previously added link
	Remove link	Allows you to remove a previously added link to another site or item of content
	Insert anchor	Allows you to insert an ID attribute into content, which can be used as a target for anchors/links
	Justify left	Justifies your text to the left of the page
	Justify center	Justifies your text to the center of the page
	Justify right	Justifies your text to the right of the page
	Decrease indent	Allows you to decrease the text indent
	Increase indent	Allows you to increase the text indent
	Insert/modify image	Allows you to insert an image or to modify the properties of a previously added image
	Horizontal rule	Allows you to add a horizontal line
	Insert/modify multimedia object	Allows you to insert an image or to modify a previously added multimedia object
	Insert special character	Allows you to insert a special character into your text, such as the copyright symbol
	Insert time	Allows you to add the current time
	Insert date	Allows you to add the current date
	Insert snippet	Allows you to add snippets of HTML code or client-side script e.g. embedded YouTube video, Google Map
	Insert table	Allows you to insert a table
	Spellcheck document	Allows you to check the spelling of your content
	Calculate readability	Performs a readability score and informs you of the average reading age of your content. In linguistics, the Gunning fog index is a test designed to measure the readability of a sample of English writing. The resulting number is an indication of the number of years of formal education that a person requires in order to easily understand the text on the first reading.
	Toggle HTML source	Allows you to see and edit the HTML source code
	Find and replace	Allows you to search for a specific word or phrase and replace all occurrences with another word or phrase. You can use regular expressions in the HTML view.
	Content statistics	Performs a word and paragraph count

tip

If you're pasting content from Microsoft Word® or other webpages, you should use the Paste from Word function. This will strip any formatting, that may break the styling of your website, from the copied content.
