Design and Build

The Design Phase

Coupled with a seamless service, you need to have a clean, easy to use website that is responsive, user focused and most importantly, accessible to all user types.

Jadu offers two different approaches for website builds. Catalog themes and a full redesign. While a full redesign would provide you with a fully customised design, it takes much longer and naturally costs more. Therefore, most customers opt to implement templates using ‘Catalog Themes’.

Jadu has created a set of catalog themes where each theme has a different design that can be deployed to your site with your branding applied.

As well as receiving out of the box standard widgets, you also have the ability to purchase additional catalog widgets. These widgets provide additional functionality to the site as well as enhanced dynamic flair.

During the design phase of the project, you will need to provide your brand assets, select a theme, and select catalog widgets (if purchased). The design stage is the stepping stone for making the site come alive!

Key tasks during the design stage are:

  1. You provide your guidelines and logo in SVG/EPS format
  2. You complete the theme / design questionnaire
  3. Jadu’s UX lead will review the responses to understand the most suitable theme and appropriate catalog widgets
  4. A theme workshop will be held with Jadu’s UX design lead
  5. You will confirm theme section
  6. Jadu will provide visuals showing branding applied to selected theme
  7. You will provide feedback on theme
  8. Jadu will action iterations (taking into account any restrictions of the theme)
  9. Jadu will perform an accessibility review of designs following feedback and iterations.
  10. You will sign off the design visuals

A design acceptance form must be signed off by you before the build stage can commence.

The build stage

Once the visuals are signed off the template phase can commence. This entails Jadu Web/UX developers and testers applying your selected branding and catalog widgets, required payment adapter(s), as well as any other agreed custom developments to the site.

Once the templates and developments have been built, reviewed for accessibility and tested internally by Jadu they will be deployed to your UAT environment for testing, followed by the LIVE environment.

On deployment of the templates, your web team will be able to start creating homepages, using widgets and your payment adapter (if applicable).

Custom Developments - extending functionality

Whilst Jadu Community Central provides powerful tools and integrations out the box, the templates and features can also be extended to meet specific requirements. For instance, changing templates, building new widgets, building new form components, developing new connectors and more!

This can be requested to be scoped, costed and delivered by Jadu. Alternatively, you can employ your own in-house developers to build and enhance functionality.

Developers will need to complete the required developer courses offered by Jadu before development can commence. Further information on developer training can be found on our website.

Once training is completed, access to the code repository will be required. You will need to complete and sign a GitHub Repository Access Agreement with details of your developers Github usernames.

Additionally, you may require instances where files need to be sent to the server for development purposes. This will require completion of a Jadu Platform Managed Server Access Agreement.
